Chelsea are concerned by Patrick Bamford’s lack of first team action at Crystal Palace and will consider recalling the forward in January if things don’t improve, reports say.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract with Chelsea in 2012 but has been unable to earn any first-team football with the west London club.

Bamford, a former England U21 player, has been sent on several loan spells and joined Palace on a season-long move over the summer.

However, with Palace possessing a host of capable forwards and flourishing with their current squad, Bamford is yet to start a Premier League match this season.

According to the Evening Standard, the reigning champions are concerned by Pamford’s position on the periphery of the Selhurst squad as they wanted him to develop by gaining valuable experience.

As a result, Chelsea are said to be considering bringing Bamford back to Stamford Bridge in January if first team football continues to evade him.
