Yannick Bolasie has agreed to sign a new three-and-a-half year contract at Crystal Palace.

The Congo international attracted the attention of several clubs this summer after a productive campaign for the Eagles last season.

However, the winger has committed his future to the south London club, with Alan Pardew announcing he has agreed to pen a contract extension.

“Yannick has agreed to sign a three-and-a-half year extension at the football club,” Pardew said.

“I’ve said all along that this guy needs to deliver at the final moment and when he does that he won’t be here for the three-and-a half years.

“Now I need to develop him and if I can develop him and take this club forward, that’s great.

“If a big club comes we’ll use that money to take the club forward, simple equation.”

The Palace boss insisted that despite intense speculation over the winger’s future, the club received no official bids for his signature.

“We had no bid for Yannick [this summer] but that’s immaterial to us,” the 54-year-old added.

“We know that if he became available for £5million there’ll be a long queue [to sign him].

“He’s a lot more money than that and now we’ve got him for three-and-a half years he’s a lot more money.

“If I can make him even better then that’s good security for the football club.

“Not only is he an exciting player who our fans love, he’s also a great person and character, unspoiled really by fame and success.

“I’m really pleased.”
