Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur believes tonight’s Capital One Cup tie against Charlton is an opportunity to bounce back from the disappointing loss to Tottenham.

The Scotland international, 27, was critical of his personal performance – as well as the team’s – during Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane.

Palace missed a string of opportunities in the outing, before Spurs’ new summer signing Son Heung-min scored the decisive goal in the second half.

But McArthur feels the showdown with rivals Charlton is the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways.

“I am looking forward to the game, especially after the defeat to Tottenham,” the midfielder said.

“Personally, I wasn’t happy with the way I played there so I just can’t wait to get going again to be honest.

“Throughout the season, though, you’re going to have games like that and it’s up to us now to bounce back.”
