Julian Speroni admits he is delighted to spend another year at Crystal Palace ahead of next month's testimonial.

The keeper signed a contract extension to keep him at Selhurst Park next season in what will be his 12th year with the club.

Palace will play Speroni’s former club Dundee on May 26 for his testimonial, eight days after his 36th birthday.

“I’m delighted, it’s really amazing,” Speroni said.

“I can’t say much about my testimonial but there’s going to be a few surprises, that’s for sure.

“I want it to be a celebration of my time here - 11 years doesn’t happen every day.

“I want the fans to come here and take away a fantastic memory.

“I’m really looking forward to it and hope people come and make it special.”

Palace face Hull tomorrow at Selhurst looking to bounce back from last week’s surprise 2-0 defeat to West Brom.

The Eagles had won their previous four matches, including a memorable victory over defending champions Man City, and Speroni feels it is testament to the league that no three points are ever guaranteed.

He said: “Every game is tough. Probably before the Man City game if you said which one would you win, West Brom or Man City, you’d say West Brom.

“You never know and it’s a very tight league. You can’t relax and you have to face every game with the same mentality and attitude.

“Hull will be a very tough game and anything can happen.”
