THE first races of the Kent cross country league season were held at Swanley Park on Saturday where Dartford Harriers members were out in force.

Holly Page led the U13 girls’ race from the gun and held on under pressure to gain her first ever league win.

Chloe Sharp also ran well to finish ninth and Rebecca Burford made up the team in 27th in her first race as Dartford Harriers’ team placed fourth.

Cassie Benson was Dartford’s sole representative in the U17 women’s event and ran a solid race in a quality field to finish 15th.

Casey Porritt made it two wins on the day for Harriers in what was a small U20 women’s field, where Rebecca Wilby ran well to finish fifth.

Cara Oliver had a very good run to finish 12th in the senior women’s contest in a large field. She was well supported by Lynne Morgan 41st, Jess Dando 50th, Steph Wood 53rd and Suzi Wiltshire in 60th place as Harriers placed sixth.

Kian Ward finished 37th in his first cross country race in the U13 boys’.

Callum Ward had a great first run of the season finishing fourth in the U15 boys’ and was followed closely by Lewis Calets in sixth.

The team was completed by Luke Saheed (30th) and Jamie Dray (39th) to ensure a fourth place overall finish.

Alex Cameron produced a fine run in a large field of 50 U17 men starters to finish 17th and Connor Burford also worked hard for his 34th place.

A big turnout from Dartford Harriers in a field of 200 senior men saw Sam Coombes lead the team home in fourth place and he was closely followed by Nick Wood (11th).

Tony Durey made the top 50 by finishing in 48th and Craig Sharp produced a fantastic debut run in 54th.

Dartford Harriers were in fifth place in the ‘four to score’ competition.
