BOUNCING back from last week’s defeat, Bexleyheath & Belvedere Hockey Club brushed aside Herne Bay 8-1 on Saturday.

Tom Golding opened the scoring in the first minute and went on to complete his hat-trick before the break.

Two goals from coach Mark Hunnisett, linking well with Dave Humber, were perhaps the best strikes of the game. His first was a well taken slip past the fast approaching keeper from a Humber pass beyond the Herne Bay defence.

Fast passing up to the front players, with clever off the ball movement, led to Hunnisett scoring past the stranded keeper into the open net for his second, again from a Humber assist. A few minutes later and Humber got his first with a smart deflection at the near post.

Two short corners led to goals from David Pyke, a reverse boomer from the top, and Humber’s drag flick like a bullet to the top left corner.

The slight blemish in the 62nd minute when Hunnisett received a yellow card and Herne Bay grabbed a consolation from a converted penalty stroke.
