Freddie shows off his silver medal
A GYMNAST from Orpington scooped a silver medal at last weekend’s British tumbling championships in Birmingham.
Freddie Lomax, aged nine, competed against boys from all over the UK to finish second in an event broadcast live on British Gymnastics’ TV station, BGTV.
The Darrick Wood Junior School pupil, who trains at least 10 hours per week at Bromley Valley Gymnastics Centre, has recently been selected to represent the GB tumbling squad and has European events scheduled from this autumn.
Mum and dad Sam and Dave Lomax travelled with Freddie and his coach Paul Welsh to Birmingham.
Dave said: “"We’ve been to loads of competitions with our boys over the years but to get to the British championships is quite special.
“The build up was huge and so was the venue.
“From where we were sitting Fred looked really tiny.
“To see him overcome his nerves and achieve this has made the whole family so proud.”
