Choppers and Bellegrove A crowned champs

WITH just two games left of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance summer season left Rileys Choppers and Bellegrove Social Club A have been crowned champions of Tier 2 West and East respectively.

Their reward is promotion to the Elite League, with Royal Oak moving in the opposite direction after their relegation was confirmed.

Bellegrove have secured the Tier 2 East title going ten games unbeaten all season including this week’s comprehensive 3-0 13-2 win over White Hart B.

Captain Ron Brown was backed up by Richard Marsh and Dan Foley, all winning three out of three with Dan Henink winning both his frames.

Behind them the race for second and a playoff spot is really hotting up as New Eltham Social Club and Glenmore Arms A both scored the maximum four points this week to stay level on points and they play each other in the last game of the season.

New Eltham hold onto second with a 3-0 11-4 victory over bottom side Royal Standard.

Nicky Vince returned to the side with two wins out of two including a ‘7-baller’ with Billy Dolby also recording two wins.

Tony Frost reached eleven straight wins but couldn’t make it to unlucky thirteen as he fell at the twelfth hurdle.

Glenmore cut the gap to just two frames as they beat the Crown 3-0 12-3.

It was a great all round team performance as Mark Carrano and Alan Rothwell both won their only frame, Alan Enever won both his frames, Pankaj Chilkoti won two out of three on his debut, James Grant won all three of his frames but man of the match has to be Barry Barham winning his three frames including a ‘7-baller’ and a break and dish.

Rileys Choppers have gone an insurmountable nine points clear at the top of Tier 2 West after their 2-1 10-5 victory against second place Beech Tree Nuthouse.

Choppers won the first two sets 4-1 and Rob Hearn kick started the final set with his third win of the night but Nuthouse won the last three frames to nick a point.

If Tier 2 East’s battle for second is hot then Tier 2 West’s is hotter as there are only two points separating second from fourth.

With Beech Tree losing Fox under the Hill have regained second spot with a 3-0 12-3 win over Glenmore Arms II, although they are level on points.

Jamie Walkey, Steve Cole and Kevin McNelly all scored a maximum three wins with Chris Gaunt just behind on two out of two.

Rileys Rovers are now two points behind after a 3-0 9-6 victory over Bellegrove Social Club B.

Rovers just edged each set 3-2 with Ryan Francis and Geoff Evans each winning a frame in every set while Martin Hession and Paul Hutchings both won the only frame they played for Bellegrove.

Elsewhere an under strength Summerfield lost 2-1 9-6 to Kings Arms with Adam Hewson winning all three for Summerfield and surprisingly Ernest Chin doing the same for Kings Arms.

In the SLKPA Elite League Royal Oak’s relegation was sealed with a 3-0 10-5 loss to top of the table O’Connors, who stay four points clear.

Rileys Hotshots stay hot on their heels with a 3-0 11-4 win over White Hart A.

Despite the loss Shaun Shephard was in fine form winning two of his team’s four frames but Steve Krishnan and Danny Kelleher both went one better with three out of three.

Paul William’s three out of three couldn’t help Erith Snooker Master 8’ers as they went down 3-0 9-6 against the Pickwick.

Dean James was ruthless with his total clearance in the second set and Pauls Gafa and Slater both won their two frames to help Pickwick into third place.
