YOUNGSTERS from Blackheath and Bexley cricket clubs enjoyed success at the ECB national club championship county finals.
Two closely fought games saw Blackheath beat Bexley in the U13 clash, with Bexley winning against St. Lawrence & Highland Court in the U15s.
Both Bexley sides batted first, with the U13s returning a steady 92-5 from their 20 overs and the U15s an impressive 140-5.
In the U13 game Bexley put the pressure on Blackheath throughout the chase, with the winning runs being scored in the last over with only one wicket in hand.
St. Lawrence & Highland Court made a positive start in the U15 game, with two strong partnerships at the top of the innings.
However, Bexley’s bowlers also applied the pressure and continued to take wickets at regular intervals, dismissing their opponents for 93.
Both winners go on to compete in the next stages of the national competition.
Blackheath progress straight to the quarter-finals where they will play the winning team from Hampshire, while Bexley are to host the winning team from Middlesex in the last round before the quarter-finals.
