A STERLING batting display from Hartley opener Sam Billings inspired his side to a two-wicket victory over Lordswood in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division on Saturday.

Having dismissed Lordswood for 216 thanks largely to the bowling displays of Charlie Hemphrey (4-55) and James Hockley (3-67), Billings and fellow opener Dan Stickels combined to lift the hosts towards the target.

By the time Stickels (62) was finally bowled by Amjad Khan (6-43), Hartley were on 129-1.

A dramatic downturn in fortunes left the home side suddenly up against it on 147-7, but Billings held his nerve with 106no as Hartley eventually reached 219-9.

Bickley Park (114-4) required only 33 overs to wrap up a facile six-wicket home derby win at the expense of Beckenham (113).

Beckenham’s only significant batting contribution came from Raza Ali Dar (46), although ironically his tally was actually higher than any of his Bickley counterparts, for whom Chris Coulson (33) top scored.

Bromley’s recent mini revival continued with a seven-wicket home success over Sevenoaks.

Wayne Morgan (5-38) inflicted most of the damage on the visitors, who were restricted to 189-9 from their allotted 55 overs.

Things started badly for the hosts as Sadiq Hassan was bowled by Tom Parsons to leave Bromley on 0-1.

However, they were only to lose two more wickets on their way to reaching 190-3, with Richard Clinton (101no) still at the crease having just passed his century.

Blackheath (276-6) saw their title challenge suffer a setback as they went down to a shock six-wicket reverse at strugglers Tunbridge Wells (277-4).

Craig Wood scored 136 of Blackheath's total, but it wasn't enough to prevent defeat for his side.

Bexley (88) had a day they will quickly want to forget after suffering a heavy 10-wicket defeat against Canterbury (91-0).

Only Min Patel (25) and Jack Wells (33) reached double figures in an abysmal batting effort from Bexley, with Canterbury needing just 19 overs to seal the win.
