BROMLEY diver tells BEN BAKER how it feels to win a call-up for Team GB at London 2012.

I WAS always pretty confident of my spot at London 2012 but the official announcement made it feel or the more real for sure – there is no turning back now.

I have been counting down for the past year and all of a sudden we are 40 days away from walking in to a stadium of 100,000 screaming Brits.

Can you imagine it?

It’s going to be an historical event, one that we will never be able to experience again in our lifetime and I can’t wait to get going.

Myself and Chris Mears won the trials which was an amazing feeling again and it’s been a long road to get there and you can never tell what’s going to happen until you see the letter saying you’re going.

It made me feel very honoured and privileged to qualify for my country and of course I was very proud of my achievement again.

As for winning a third-straight British title, I have been at the top of my game in this event for the past seven years, let alone three.

But going into the Games with a huge win at the Olympic trials makes me feel very confident I am going to make everyone very proud .

There are no further competitions between now and the Games, so it is just solid training and right now the whole team is out in Majorca.

Training in Majorca is going absolutely amazing, we are training really lightly at the moment while also revitalising the body in the sun.

Our training sessions are really easy at the moment because we need to relax our minds and body for a short period before absolutely smashing the last five-week push into the Games.

It is great being here with everyone and the sun is definitely making it nice for us all!

There is nothing I am working on specifically in the pool apart from really working on my entries so that when I come to compete my entries are up to tip-top condition.

I am also doing a lot of work in the gym on my squatting, tension work and also making sure I am at the fittest shape of my life going in to the Olympic Games.

My strength and conditioning is the most important part of this training camp.

When this is all done then it is a five-week push before we go in to the Olympic village, which is going to be such an amazing time.

I truly can’t wait to compete. It’s all about staying fit, healthy and mentally and physically strong and if I can do then I am sure I can have a good Games.
