BLACKHEATH surrendered top spot in the Kent Cricket League Premier Division when they suffered a 75-run defeat at the hands of new leaders Sevenoaks Vine on Saturday.
Having won the toss and opted to bat first, visitors Sevenoaks found themselves in a strong position, standing on 164-3 by the time Anthony Shales (86) was caught by Jamal Patterson.
Warren Lee (3-73) delivered the ball which dislodged Shales and his hat-trick was to be the highlight of Blackheath’s bowling efforts as Sevenoaks set a target of 234-7.
Blackheath opening duo Daniel Bell-Drummond (5) and Craig Wood (19) were soon back in the pavilion as the home side were left on 32-2, which quickly became 33-3 after Patterson (0) went LBW off the delivery of Tom Parsons.
Faisal Shahid was clearly in determined mood but even he was eventually caught by Michael Koster on 73 as the home side were dismissed for 159.
Bexley (184-2) remain third but closed the gap on Blackheath to just two points after easing to a facile eight-wicket derby success at Beckenham (181-7).
Bowler Adam Riley (4-47) played a key role in setting the visitors a reasonable target, one they reached with 10 overs to spare thanks largely to the efforts of Greg Bain (113 no).
Hartley (124-3) only required 29 overs to wrap up a seven-wicket triumph at Canterbury (119).
James Thompson (3-39) took the first and final wickets as hosts Canterbury were dismissed in 50 overs, with Charlie Hemphrey (60 no) and Thompson (15 no) sealing the points to keep Hartley fourth in the table.
Bickley Park (151) had bowler Nayan Doshi (7-25) to thank as he ensured Tunbridge Wells (99) ended up 52 runs off the target.
Bromley (180-6) remain in the relegation zone after a two-wicket defeat against Lordswood (183-8).
Richard Clinton (51) top scored for Bromley, but despite losing eight wickets Lordswood were eventually able to seal victory with less than two overs to spare.
