MICHAEL Saunders won a third consecutive Watson Trophy at home club Dartford GC.
In one of the strongest fields ever comprising more than 40 Kent club champions, with 12 players on better than scratch handicaps, Saunders won by one shot from Darren Timms (Mid Kent GC) and Leigh Ferris (Lamberhurst GC) a further shot back in third.
England players Max Orrin (North Foreland GC) and Connor Fletcher (Chart Hills GC), as well as top county players Charlie Wilson (Sene Valley GC), Danny Holmes (Langley Park GC) produced some brilliant golf.
Representatives from the Kent Golf Union and the English Golf Union were also in attendance.
But it was Saunders who stood out and showed his class by producing the best golf on the day and winning the trophy for an unprecedented third time, making history for Dartford Golf Club.
