Bexleyheath and Belvedere Hockey Club Ladies 2nd XI secured a great 5-0 victory against Remnants on Saturday.
BBHC started well and again were rewarded with numerous short corners. After several saved attempts, a super strike from Helen Lucas opened the scoring for BBHC. BBHC continued to pressure the Remnants goal and after some hard work by Jeanette Grabham, she was rewarded when she put the ball away in the back of the net. The Remnants goalie made some good saves and they did have a few opportunities to get back in the game but with super defending from BBHC and saves from Karen White, the score remained 2-0 at half time.
BBHC continued to press in the second half and after some good build up work from midfield, Julie Lake put away a third goal for BBHC. The fourth goal was a deflection by Vicky Jones after a great ball in from Julie Somers-Bayley. The final goal came from a penalty corner which was hit out to stick stopper, Grabham who then laid the ball off for Somers-Bayley to strike. After a cracking first strike which a defender miraculously got a stick to, the ball fell nicely again for Somers-Bayley. A tremendous strike from her saw BBHC’s 5th and final goal of the game scored. Remnants 0 – BBHC 5.
