BLACKHEATH and Bromley Athletic Club (B&B) are the National Junior League Champions.

The club put out a strong team of talented athletes to challenge the likes of rivals Enfield and Haringey and Shaftsbury Barnet Harriers and they excelled to win by 16 points.

Team manager Brendan McShane said: "The athletes were justly rewarded for all their hard-work over the past year."

While the boys and girls points were combined for the overall win, the B&B girls also won their own competition and will compete in Europe next year.

The girls' team manager Jean Blackwell said: "The girls excelled themselves today with personal bests for most."

First places and gold medals were rewarded to many of the athletes including Scott Huggins in pole vault who reached an impressive 4.60m.

Javelin star Stuart Harvey won his competition by almost 13m while double gold was achieved in the long jump by James Thomas Lindor (A-string, 7.08m) and Jeremy Odametey (B-string 6.85m).

The Williamson brothers, Amir and Alistair, lived up to their expectations by obliterating their competition in the hammer with throws of 65.59m and 60.35m.

The boys' 4x400m relay team placed second with a time of 3mins 20.70secs and under-17s Alex Littlewood and Sam Simpson achieved third place in the men's 2,000m steeplechase.
