BEXLEYHEATH’S Patrick Fielder says having former professional boxing champion David Walker in his corner will give him the edge against Lee Dalglish for the Queensbury boxing league welterweight title.

Making his second appearance in the league back in June, Fielder ended the unbeaten run of Mitcham’s Lee Cannon to secure his shot at the title at Epsom racecourse on September 17.

And with his sights now firmly set on claiming the belt, he will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories next month when the pair collide.

Fielder said: “In my last two fight I’ve gone in there and done what I needed to do and got the wins.

“This next fight promises to be my toughest to date, but I’m working towards being the fittest I’ve ever been and I intend to be in great shape come fight night.”

The man opposing Fielder for the title enters the contest off the back of two very impressive performances of his own.

Dalglish claimed the fight of the night accolade in March with a punch perfect display over Croydon’s awkward Rodney James.

And with Fielder watching from ringside that night, he knows exactly what will be required to emerge victorious.

The Bexleyheath ace said: “After watching Lee and Rodney fight I know what I’m up against if I am to get this belt.

“It was a very competitive fight and Lee looks like a classy operator so I am going to need to be at my best to beat this guy.

“But I’ve got Dave Walker in my corner, which is a massive help, and I look at him like a brother so I know he’s going to give me all the advice I need to win the fight and become champion.”

With Fielder’s title showdown making up just part of the stacked 14-bout fight card, this contest has the potential to set the arena alight and produce another fight of the night performance.
