GRAVESEND Rowing Club had several entrants in the Peterborough regatta and sprint regatta last weekend.

The racing took place over courses of 1,000m and 500m on the Saturday and Sunday respectively.

John McDonald and Matt Johnson entered the intermediate one category for single and double sculls on both days. Christopher Johnson entered in the junior 15 and novice single scull category for the Saturday and the junior 15 single scull for the Sunday.

McDonald and Matt came fourth in the finals for their doubles race on the Saturday, with McDonald placing second and Matt fourth in the singles final.

The following day saw McDonald finish second in his single scull final. Although Christopher got knocked out in the heats on both days, he has gained valuable experience from the weekend and has already entered both novice and junior 15 single sculls in this Saturday’s star regatta.

Success finally arrived for McDonald and Matt in the intermediate one double sculling final when they defeated a crew from Champion of the Thames Rowing Club.
