FIVE schools took part in the Shooters Hill RFC Tuckermans minis testival at Mayday Gardens last week, where Brooklands B emerged as the winners.

The event produced a feast of high quality running rugby and Chairman Ian Purcell was impressed with the standard the boys and girls had achieved.

"We hope that the children will take rugby to their hearts, encourage others and progress to higher levels," he said.

Shoots' minis train at Mayday Gardens at 10 am on Sundays and boys and girls aged from seven to 12 are welcome.

Meanwhile, Shooters Hill’s first team are celebrating the confirmation of their promotion to Kent One after an outstanding season.

With two Kent Two matches still to play, they have won 16 of their 18 games and return to Kent One after an 11-year absence.

To celebrate Shoots staged an exhibition match in which the sides were augmented by a number of Fijian players from Woolwich Barracks, who enlivened the afternoon by demonstrating their running skills.
