BECKENHAM Swimming Club has reached the national arena league finals for the third year in succession, the premier competition for competitive swimming clubs in England and Wales.

The leading club in Kent and south London will once more represent its league in Sheffield on April 17 to take part in what promises to be a hard-fought gala. Head coach Tony Beckley said: “The swimmers deserve this for their commitment, enthusiasm and hard work. It is a tribute to them.”

The club’s supporters will accompany the club, as Beckenham SC president Kim Shead explained.

“We will be behind them 100 per cent in what will be another great occasion for the club,” he said. With more than 300 members, Beckenham SC members have gained success swimming at club, county, district, national and international levels.

Current Great Britain star Ellen Gandy is a lifetime member of the club.

She credits the training and support she received from a very early age at Beckenham as being what led her to be the youngest GB swimmer at the Beijing Olympics and to win Commonwealth medals.

Catering for many ages and talents, the club has a masters section for swimmers aged over 19, as well as a very strong water polo section running men’s, women’s, junior and mini teams.

All the coaches are professional and dedicated to ensure every swimmer reaches their potential.
