The opening games of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Winter Season 2010/11 saw a shock in the Premier Division with the Coach and Horses beating their landlords and champions of the previous two seasons, Hotshots 10-5 in frames. Luke Prichard starred on the night for Coach with 3 wins out of 3.

The Pickwick had their rub of the green away to Riley’s Rovers, winning 11-4. In the first set Paul Dawson completed an excellent break and dish with Paul Gafa and the governor, Martin Storey both scoring 3 out of 3 for the victors.

Roger Simpson, from new to the league, Riley’s Lewisham won his 3 frames but The Rack Pack ended up winners 8-7, with Sean O’Connor and Miro Cujic securing 3 frames each for Rack Pack.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division Jamie Walkey’s 3 out of 3 for Fox under the Hill wasn’t quite enough in their 8-7 away defeat to Greenwich Town Social and Eardley Arms were 9-6 winners against O’Connors.

In Division One there were differing fortunes for the SLKPA’s newest teams.

Life of Riley’s were beaten 10-5 away to Kings Arms but Leather Bottle narrowly beat White Hart 8-7 helped by maximums from Paul Thomas and Mark Carrano, with Scott Shephard managing the same for White Hart.

Bellegrove Social Club managed the biggest win of the night, 11-4 against New Eltham Social Club but even that couldn’t take the smile off New Eltham’s Chris Unwin with his first win on the eve of his 15th birthday. Happy Birthday Chris.

Stephen Frampton won half of Beech Tree Nuthouse’s 6 frames in their 9-6 loss at Our Lady of the Rosary and completing the first week’s results is Running Horses 5 Erith Snooker Master 8’ers 10.
