SOUTHBOROUGH Primary School in Bromley has received lottery funding to run three after school clubs in basketball, athletics and lacrosse.
The £9,920 award will be used over three terms to deliver the extra curricular sports offer to encourage children from Year 1 to Year 6 to take up more sport.
This programme will deliver access to high quality coaching for young students, in turn increasing their cognitive learning and motor skills.
The funding will go directly towards hiring coaches to run the schemes, as well as setting up an open day for pupils to try out the sports and a tournament day to compete in the sports.
Shaun Dawson, London champion for community sport, said: “As we get ever closer to the 2012 Games, there has never been a better time to get people playing and enjoying sport in our region.
“I’d like to congratulate the projects which have been awarded Sport England funding.
“We know that they will make a real difference to people and I encourage as many people as possible to get involved.”
