Blackheath 38 v 21 Orrell

Rugby Union National League Division Two

BLACKHEATH finished the season as they started it, with a comfortable win over Orrell, writes Jack Kay.

It means the Lancastrians have now been relegated two years in succession and as Club fans know, it is not an easy experience to recover from.

The visitors started off in confident style and could well have had points on the board in the opening 10 minutes.

Instead they opted to kick their penalties to the corners hoping to amass points from the line-outs and subsequent drives, all to no avail.

Blackheath took the lead against the run of play after 14 minutes with a superb solo try by Harvey Biljon who shimmied his way through defender to score under the posts and Frankie Neale converted.

Eight minutes later Club increased their lead following a penalty to the corner, a line-out and drive which left hooker Rob Webber to go over for his fourth try of the season.

Blackheat repeated the move moments later with a similar result although this time Tom Bason went over and Neale converted.

Orrell responded with a Chris Briers converted try but Club notched up their fourth try on the stroke of half-time through flanker James Bull.

Neale's conversion saw the half end 26-7 in Club's favour.

After the break Orrell full back Warren Spragg literally handed the ball on a plate to AJ Delport 10m from the try line resulting in an unconverted try for Neil Dewale.

Club rounded off their scoring in the 50th minute a converted try for Ken Aseme.

Orrell fought back with two converted tries through Phil Carslake and Dan Hall.

Club finished the season in ninth spot having win 10 and lost 16 of their 26 league games.
