BLACKHEATH and Greenwich (B&G) Bowls Club opened their account in the Private Clubs Bowls league with a win over Forest Hill.

Playing at home, B&G put in a strong performance winning all four rinks, taking a 7-0 points victory.

The foundation for the 126-45 shot win was firmly laid when Jeff King's rink stormed to a 15-0 lead after five ends.

At the half way stage King had increased his lead to 20 shots and with Richard Hurrell 19 up the overall lead was 55 shots.

Ken Cave had overcome an early 5-0 deficit to lead 13-6 at 10 ends against Ken Adams.

Paul Field, also suffering an early deficit, marshalled his team well leading Stan Parsons 14-5 at halfway.

B&G maintained the pressure in the second half of the match and ran out comfortable winners.

On Sunday B&G travelled to Gravesend's Bat and Ball for their long standing fixture.

Now in its 101st year the visitors avenged their 24-shot defeat of last year with 133-101 shots win.

Del Field led the way with a 32-13 shot win over Peter Davis and Ken Cave scored four to snatch a last end win by a single score.
