THE Arthritis Care Golden Putter golf tournament is to run for an eighth consecutive year in order to raise essential funds for those with arthritis.

Sponsored by Stannah Stairlifts and fronted by keen golfer, Terry Wogan, it is hoped that golf club members in our area will pick up their putters and take to the golf course in the name of charity.

The competition format is simple and flexible and the arrangements, including the date of the tournament, are left to the individual club.

However, all play must be completed by August 2005.

The club that raises the most money for Arthritis Care will then be invited to send four members for an all-expenses-paid trip to the infamous Wentworth Golf Club in October 2005 with a renowned golfer.

The tournament is so called as each club is given a hand crafted golden putter, made at St. Andrews, the home of golf, to offer as a prize to either the winning team or individual.

To take part in the competition each club is asked to raise a minimum of £150.
