THE annual Hayes Tennis Club Championships finals was highlighted by Andrew Smithson regaining his singles title after a six-year gap, when he defeated Rhys Brewer in three sets, 6-1 4-6 6-2.
Brewer had better luck when teaming up with his father, Alan, to beat Vic Chance and Andrew McIven 6-4 6-2 in the doubles.
Smithson made it a great double by partnering Margaret Rimmer when they beat Alan Brewer and Janette de Vine 6-2 6-2 in the mixed doubles decider.
However, Margaret, who had earlier won the ladies singles final by comfortably beating Catherine Shepherd 6-1 6-0, made it a hat-trick of triumphs when she and Sandra Carpenter defeated Catherine Shepherd and Janette De Vine 6-1 3-6 6-1 to take the ladies doubles title.
The other final the men's plate, was won by Peter Ward, who beat Bill Eastwood 6-4 6-3.
