O’Connors B triumph in team knock out final

The final of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance team knockout produced a very competitive match on Thursday night at Riley’s in Woolwich.

Jordan O’Connor opened the match in fine style for O’Connors B with a clearance on his second visit. James Sheed responded for the Pickwick in the next frame to level the score at 1-1 in frames. O’Connors players then upped their game to take the next three frames and give then a commanding 4-1 in frames first set lead.

James Sheed led the Pickwick’s comeback by making a great clearance to take the sixth frame followed by two more frames for the Pickwick to level the scores at 4 all. Jason Baker for O’Connors and Paul Slater for Pickwick won the next two frames taking the match score to 5 all.

Jordan O’Connor broke and dished in the eleventh frame. Ash Hall and Paul Gafa put the Pickwick in front for the first time in the match by 7-6 in frames. Gary Dixon tied the match at 7 all setting up a final frame decider. Shane Hutley, despite losing his previous two frames, stepped up to the mark to win the match for O’Connors B and see his team crowned as team knock out champions.

In the Reserve league the match between New Eltham Social Club Reserves and the Woodman decided the top three places.

New Eltham SC Reserves started the match well winning the first two frames and only needed three more to win the title. Unfortunately the Woodman’s tactical game did not suit New Eltham’s young players who fought to the end but were unable to secure the frames they needed. The Woodman won the match by a flattering 9-3 and take the Reserve Division title with New Eltham SC Reserves in second place.
