The semi finals of the team knockout and the promotion/ relegation playoff provided Thursday night’s entertainment at Riley’s in Woolwich for the participants in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance.

O’Connors B put paid to the Hotshots hope of the double with a fantastic display which saw them lead 4-1 in frames and then 7-3. The Hotshots fought back hard to win the next three frames before Shane Hutley won the decisive frame for O’Connors making the match score 8-6 in frames and putting them into next week’s final.

The Pickwick’s James Sheed provided the fireworks, backed up by captain Paul Slater 3/3 and a fortunate Paul Gafa 3/3, in their 8-5 in frames victory over New Eltham Social Club for whom Sean O’Connor 2/2 played some delightful pool.

The Fox under the Hill retain their Premier Division status after defeating Our Lady of the Rosary in the playoff. Our Lady of the Rosary started well and were 3-2 in frames ahead before outstanding performances by Kevin Mcnelly 3/3, Chris Gaunt 2/2 and Simon Evans 1/1 gave the Fox an unassailable 8-3 in frames lead.

In the Reserve league only eight points separate top from bottom and next week’s showdown between New Eltham Social Club Reserves and the Woodman will decide the top three places.

New Eltham SC Reserves, inspired by Stephen Unwin 3/3, staged a brilliant comeback having trailed by 5-2 in frames to the Crown winning the next four frames and securing the draw. This puts them in second place three points behind Pickwick Academicals and three points above next week’s opposition the Woodman.
