FRESH on the heels of gaining divisional promotion in the Kent Junior League, Gravesend and Northfleet Swimming Club intend to make a huge impact in the Kent county championships in Gillingham next month.
The championships are one of the highlights of the season and GNSC have 17 swimmers who have qualified to swim in 99 events.
Another half dozen are swimming in the eight relay events.
This huge increase on last year, when 13 swimmers took part in 51 events, is due to the determination of the swimmers and the leadership from new head coach Richard Skirving and his team.
GNSC Chairman Mike Walsh said: “With the success of the British team in Bejing and the Olympics being held in London, we have seen an increased uptake in swimming within the UK.
“The club has recently been through some restructuring and we now have dedicated teaching and coaching teams delivering impressive results.
“We are eagerly looking forward to the county championships and hope to build on our recent successes”.
Swimming at GNSC ranges from the first stages of learning to swim up to competitive levels.
