DARTFORD District Swimming Club’s annual open competition welcomed all comers to the Black Lion pool in Gillingham.

Competitors came from across the county and from over the water in Essex to take part in the event.

Personal bests were the order of the day and the swimmers did not disappoint. Individual record sheets were torn up in the day’s trophy bonanza as swimmers walked away with hatfuls.

Dartford swimmers Leanne Saheed, Erin Swain, Jack Willis and Georgina Ladley were all smiles before they collected their record selection of trophies and medals following big successes in the water.

Team Dartford swept the board generally, closely followed by Whiteoaks and Black Lion.

Promoter Nick Pembroke was very pleased with the turnout.

He said: “We have had the busiest competition for years and the swimmers have pulled the stops out in the pool.”

If you are interested in joining a lively, friendly and competitive club, training sessions take place every Friday evening at Fairfield pool in Dartford. All are welcome.
