ERITH secured a vital win in Saturday's clash with fellow strugglers Sheppey.

Despite another couple of changes in the pack, Erith managed to frustrate the much larger pack of Sheppey and preformed magnificently in defence, both close and out wide.

Erith were already 3-0 up thanks to a Tom Amzaleg penalty when their strong defence led to a turn over by Scott Ferris, who fed Phil Slator.

His well-timed pass picked out the on-charging Christian Samuels, who beat two defenders and slipped Simba Mohovo for his first try in Erith colours.

Despite having a number of penalties, Sheppey were unable to get themselves on the scoreboard and buoyed by a half-time lead, Erith went to score another try through Charlie Vennor.

Once again, the second half mirrored the first with solid defence by Erith.

However, a mistake under the high ball led to a Sheppey try under the posts, which was converted to set up a nervy final 15 minutes.

The visitors saw a chance to snatch something from the game and threw everything into their attack, but Erith stood firm until the last minute when Sheppey were able to score a second try.

But this did not affect the outcome as Erith held on for a much needed win.
