BEXLEYHEATH & Belvedere HC travelled to the deepest south west to play Devon side Dart HC in the second round of the Hockey Association Trophy.

The game got underway with early pressure from BBHC as a run from Jamie Perfitt down the by-line saw him pull back to Mark Ashby, who coolly slotted into the far side of the goal.

BBHC’s dominance continued with Dan Lucas putting his name onto the scoreboard by firing into the far corner.

David Pyke followed this up with a short corner and captain Kevin King got past the runners before pushing a shot high onto the backboard.

It was an awkward height for the Dart keeper and the sound of the ball hitting backboard was heard once more.

Leading 3-0 at half-time, the team talk concentrated on emphasising BB’s dominance in the game and keeping up the impressive momentum of the first half.

But as it turned out, the second half was more eventful than the first.

Pyke scored once more with a short corner strike put past the keeper’s right side.

BBHC received a penalty flick after a body check sent Perfitt to the floor, which was duly converted by Pyke to complete his hat-trick.

A couple of minutes later, the luck was turned after a strike by the Dart forward, hard and high, struck Pyke on the head but fortunately with no serious injury.

The match was concluded with by a strike from Ashby, once again sending his effort between the keeper’s legs. BBHC ran out worthy winners, 6-0.
