LEGENDARY Grand Prix racer Giacomo Agostini will make a special appearance at the forthcoming Brands Hatch round of the British Superbike championship next month.

The multi-world champion will be reunited with MV Agusta for some unique laps of the Grand Prix circuit.

Agostini is frequently hailed as the best rider of all time and still remains an idol to many, including reigning MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, who recently declared him as “the greatest”.

He still holds the record for the most race victories in Grand Prix history, with a staggering total of 122 wins helping him secure an astonishing 15 world titles.

Agostini will ride his iconic 500-3 MV Agusta and an OW31 TZ750 Yamaha and will be joined on track by multiple world champion Phil Read.

BSB fans will also experience the ear-piercing sound of a complete collection of Grand Prix Hondas, including the 250cc-6, 350cc-4 and Mike Hailwood's 500cc-4.

Multiple TT winner and British champion Mick Grant will lap the circuit on his 1970s MCN Superbike Kawasaki 750cc-3, plus there will be factory RG500 GP Suzukis and Randy Mamola's Cagiva factory 500cc GP machine.

In addition to the on track laps on August 8 and August 9, the complete collection will be on display throughout the weekend.

There will also be opportunities for fans to meet Agostini and Read when they join the current BSB stars for official autograph sessions.

This round will also be a landmark occasion in British Superbike championship history, as it becomes the first BSB event with three BSB races rather than the usual two, with the first taking place on Saturday following qualifying.

In addition to the three BSB races during the weekend, there will be eight races from the six support championships, including a round of the international classic Grand Prix series.

Throughout the weekend, there will be manufacturer displays and representation from BMW, Honda, Harley Davidson and Kawasaki, with the latter celebrating 25 years of the Ninja model.

Sunday’s entertainment also includes action in the skies with a Red Devils parachute drop and a display from world aerobatic championship pilot Mark Jefferies.

The British Superbike championship arrives at Brands Hatch on August 7, August 8 and August 9 for one of the biggest events in its history.

Advance tickets start from £23, with children aged 12 and under admitted free.
