Cox plays through the pain barrier

An heroic effort by Andre Cox winning all three of his frames, playing with a broken arm in a cast, was all in vein in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance as the Coach & Horses were edged out by the odd frame 8-7 at home to the Pickwick on Thursday.

The Hotshots remain top of the table with a solid 11-4 away win at Woolwich Catholic Club.

They are being pursued by the Jolly Fenman who recorded a 9-6 victory at the Fox Under The Hill and the Beehive where Alex Winters and Miro Cujic were in good form.

Alex Thompson got in on the act, catching the eye with a great clearance from a snookered black in their 10-5 win at Riley’s.

Bellegrove Social Club look to have unearthed a little gem in Gary Cufley who is having a fine season.

He and Mick Ansell remained undefeated on the night in their 9-6 home win against Riley’s Royals to lead in the first division.

King William IV’s 11-4 win against the Eagle Tavern puts them second, whilst the Blue Anchor remain third despite losing to the Kings Arms.

Blue Anchor’s John Meaney showed his team mates how to do it with a complete clearance from the break, but the Kings Arms fought back from 5-2 down to claim a narrow 8-7 victory.

Gallies from Charlton beat Lee Green Constitutional Club 9-6 and in the battle of the two new teams, the Angerstein Hotel beat the Ship & Billet 8-7, to win their second match of the season.

New teams are always welcome into the SLKPA with matches played on Thursday evenings.
