BRITAIN'S first individual Olympic gymnast winner in 80 years will be at the O2 Arena on Wednesday for the official launch of next year's World artistic championships at the Greenwich venue.

Louis Smith, 19, claimed bronze last month in the men's pommel horse event and will be joined at the O2 by fellow gymnasts Beth Tweddle, Daniel Keating and Becky Downie.

The World Artistic Championships will be coming to the O2 in October next year.

This will be the first time the event has ever been held in the capital and a welcome return to the UK after a decade away.

Beijing 2008 showed the huge potential and talent of Great Britain's gymnasts and the excitement will no doubt continue to the championships next year.

Wednesday's press launch will also be open to members of the public and will be followed by displays from the Bromley Valley and Greenwich Crossways gymnastics clubs.
