The final week of Premier Division matches in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance winter season and Eltham Terrace Club A have notched up their fourteenth win of the season to take the league title and condemn Eltham Terrace Nuthouse to relegation in the process.

Nuthouse got off to the perfect start with Captain, Craig Jones performing a break and dish in the first frame but they didn’t win another in the set losing it, 4-1.

Nuthouse went on to win the first frame in each of the next two sets but just like the first ended up losing them, by 3 frames to 2 this time, giving Terrace the overall victory, 10-5.

It was likely that Terrace were going to win the title so the whole team were there to enjoy it and Captain, Ron Brown made sure they all got a game, with Mark Eldridge, Shane Hutley and Paul Shrimpton joining Brown in winning their only frame and Ben McIntosh scored an unbeaten brace.

This result gave Terrace the title by nine points, after Falconwood Social pulled off a shock, 8-7 victory over second placed Hustlers A.

Hustlers were chasing the champions, being just six points behind but it was Falconwood, who were fighting relegation who started better, with Steve Dixon recording a break and dish in the second frame to help his side to a, 3-2 lead from the first set.

Hustlers responded by taking the second set, 4-1 to go, 6-4 up, with Tony Gear helping himself to a break and dish in the seventh frame.

Elliot Giles and Dixon brought it back to six all but Hustlers won the next frame to take the lead again, before Alex Biggs took out a great clearance to tie the match, sending it to a final frame decider.

You couldn’t have written the script, as Alex set it up for his dad and team captain, Trevor Biggs to win his second frame of the night to give his team the surprise, 8-7 triumph.

That frame was even more important as it put Falconwood one point above Nuthouse in the table, leaving them in the final relegation spot and allowing Falconwood to fight another day, against Eltham Terrace Rack Pack to see who plays Premier Division pool next season.

Pickwick ensured they finished third, a turnaround from being relegated in the last summer season, by beating the outgoing champions, Bellegrove, 8-7.

The nerves were showing early on for Pickwick but they battled back in the final set from, 7-4 down to win the last four frames and take the match.

It was a brilliant team performance with two wins out of three from, Martin Storey, Paul Gafa, Billy Levingbird and Ash Hall in his first game of the season, which also happens to be the last.

Bellegrove will be disappointed to finish sixth after winning the championship last season but after their poor start they were always going to find it difficult to challenge for honours.

Despite losing, 8-7 to Hotshots, Eltham Terrace Rovers finished safely in seventh, after dicing with the relegation places most of the season.

Hotshots were seeking revenge after Rovers beat them earlier in the season and they had the better start, winning the first two sets, 3-2 but Rovers turned that around in the final set, taking it by the same score but it wasn’t enough to win the match.

Chris Hobbis was man of the match for Rovers, winning all three of his frames, including a break and dish in the first set.

Steve Krishnan also scored an unbeaten hat-trick for Hotshots and was supported by Danny Kelliher and Richard Chapman, both winning two out of two.

Despite the win Hotshots drop to fifth, outside the prizes by just two points after Falconwood Club beat already relegated, Crayford Social Club Rugrats by 9 frames to 6.

It was a typical end of season match with plenty of banter and a few frames of pool thrown in.

The inaugural SLKPA League Cup was at the semi-final stage, with Division Two winners, Sharks facing Bellegrove A who finished fifth in Division One and the all Bellegrove affair, with Flyers from Division Two pitched against Division One champions, Bellegrove Social Club.

In the battle of the Bellegrove, Flyers took a shock, 3-2 lead in the first set but Bellegrove Social Club fought back and their higher division status showed as they took the second set, 4-1.

Social Club went into the final set, 6-4 up, needing two frames for victory and they got the first in the first frame of the set, with Jason Brunton winning his third frame of the night.

Flyers’ Keith Mitchell brought one back with his hat-trick but Dave Jandu won the next frame to send Bellegrove Social Club into the final.

The only other unbeaten player on the night was Steve Pearce, who won both of his frames.

In the other semi, Sharks didn’t have it their own way for arguably the first time this season, as Bellegrove A won the first three frames, with Terry Mitchell and Steve Hughes both making total clearances.

Sharks won the last two frames of the first set to reduce the deficit to just one frame, however Hughes won another frame to put Bellegrove two in front again.

This must have woken the Sharks, as they took the next four frames to take a, 6-4 lead into the final set.

Hughes won his third of the night to bring it back to, 6-5 but Chris Mackenzie made it, 7-5 with his unbeaten brace, before Nathan Lampen brought Bellegrove to within one again.

Eno Idiong clinched it for Sharks in the fourteenth frame, giving them the, 8-6 triumph.

This was a really exciting match, befitting a semi-final, played in the true spirit of the game, especially when Sharks called a foul on their own player that was unnoticed.

So the Division Two winners, Sharks will play the Division One winners, Bellegrove Social Club in the SLKPA’s first League Cup final but first we have the Founders Cup semi-finals and divisional play-offs.
