The South London & Kent Pool Alliance put league business to one side, turning it’s attention to the Founder’s Cup second round and Bellegrove put their poor league form behind them to record another impressive victory in the cup.

In the first round they beat Division Two’s Greyhound Elite by eight frames to nil and they repeated the whitewash in round two, against Foots Cray Social Club.

Bellegrove’s class shone through, if only they could carry their cup form into the league.

In this round there was another, 8-0 whitewash, as the Premier Division’s Eltham Terrace Nuthouse turned on the style against Academicals from Division Two.

The Nuthouse started well, pinching frames as Academicals failed to take their chances, with Zoe Healy fluking a black in frame three and Jon Syta smashing in a similarly audacious black two frames later, compounding the Academicals misery.

Shane O’Reilly outmanoeuvred his opponent to take frame six, before Nuthouse won the next two frames to wrap the match up before the end of the second set, without dropping a frame.

Bellegrove go into the quarter-final without losing a frame in the first two rounds but Nuthouse are only one frame behind them, after winning, 8-1 in the first round.

The only shock of the round came at Rose Inn from the second division, who after beating first division opposition in the first round, did even better this time by taking the scalp of the Premier Division’s Crayford Social Club Rugrats.

Struggling at the bottom of the Premier Division, Rugrats knew they’d be struggling in this match when they arrived with only four players, saying that Rose only just squeezed the first two sets, 3-2.

Rose took a, 6-4 lead into the final set but Rugrats won the first two frames to tie the match, then Dean Taylor won his third frame of the night to put Rose back in the lead.

The lack of players proved to be Rugrats downfall, as they gave the penultimate frame to their opponents and with it the match by 8 frames to 6.

Crayford's other team, CSC Mr's & Miss Q's also struggled but their fight was against the weather and they didn’t make it to the Falconwood Club.

Flying high and unbeaten at the top of the first division are Bellegrove Social Club and they carried that form into the cup, with an, 8-4 triumph over Fox & Hounds.

Bellegrove did the damage in the first set taking it, 4-1 but Fox fought hard in the second, winning it by 3 frames to 2, giving Bellegrove an overall, 6-4 lead.

Needing only two frames from the last set for victory, Bellegrove achieved this with Martin Hession winning his only frame in the eleventh and Steve Pearce recording an unbeaten brace in the twelfth to give his side victory.

Joining Pearce with two out of two frame wins were Dave Jandu and Jason Brunton.

Bellegrove A were looking to make it a trio of Bellegrove teams in the quarter-finals and thought their luck was in when just four Hotshots players arrived on the snowy night.

That luck didn’t materialise as Hotshots won the first two frames but Sirhat Bulbul levelled the match after 7-balling Neil Hall and that was their highlight of the night, as Hotshots took four frames in a row for a, 7-3 lead at the end of the second.

Danny Kelliher took the eleventh frame for his hat-trick and his team’s, 8-3 victory.

If you're looking for luck, Eltham Terrace Rovers must have it in abundance, as the luck of the draw not only gave them a bye in the first round but also pitted them against Orpington Sports Club in round two and they had pulled out of the league, handing Rovers a place in the quarters.

Finally the tie of the round had to be second against first from the Premier Division, as Hustlers A were drawn against Eltham Terrace Club A.

The recent league match between the two ended with Terrace thrashing Hustlers, 13-2 and they also got the better of them earlier in the season but it was much closer, by 8 frames to 7.

However, Hustlers gained retribution narrowly winning the match, 8-7 to take the last spot in the quarter-finals, which are due to be played on 23 February.
