With their nearest rivals, Rose Inn and Fox & Hounds not in action this week, Sharks have opened up a ten point lead at the top of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division Two.

This week’s opponents were Bellegrove Flyers with Sharks winning 11-4, their fourth victory of the season and in all their matches they have scored ten frames or more.

Sharks took the first four frames before Flyers replied and exactly the same happened in the second set, to give Sharks an unassailable 8-2 lead going into the final set, which Sharks also won, 3-2.

Arif Salih was one of three players in the division that were going into this week still unbeaten for the season but unfortunately he lost two frames this week and the other two players are in one of the teams that didn’t play.

This week Sharks ended up with three unbeaten players, Kevin Dempsey won his only frame, while Tony Bailey and Jeff Laporte scored unbeaten hat-tricks.

The only other game in this division was between Greyhound Elite and Plumstead Radical Club, which Elite won by 9 frames to 6 to go thirteen points ahead of their opponents, at the bottom of the table.

The two teams at the top of SLKPA Division One, CSC Mr’s & Miss Q’s and Bellegrove Social Club, remain unbeaten after five matches but only just as both teams recorded narrow 8-7 victories this week.

Second played third with Bellegrove Social Club beating Glenmore Arms to increase their lead over them to eight points.

It was a good night for the Pearce’s, as Steve Pearce and Sam Bedingham-Pearce both won two out of two and Dave Jandu’s impressive form continued with three frame wins.

One of Bellegrove’s other teams, Bellegrove A almost did Bellegrove Social Club a favour against CSC but fell at the final hurdle in a close, hard fought match.

CSC took a 3-2 first set lead but Bellegrove won the first two frames of the next set to take the lead, however CSC won the next three in a row to match the first set score and go into the final set, 6-4 up.

The first two frames of the last set were shared, before Bellegrove won two on the bounce to level the match at seven all but unfortunately they couldn’t carry the momentum into the final frame and CSC won it to keep up their unbeaten run and stay top of the table by one point.

The next two matches both saw teams pick up their first wins of the season with 10-5 victories.

Foots Cray Social Club surprisingly stopped North Heath Social Club’s run of two straight wins to reduce the gap between the two teams to six points, in sixth and seventh.

In picking up their first victory, Eltham Terrace Rack Pack have sent their opponents, Royal Oak Addicks to the bottom of the table, while elevating themselves to fifth and ten points ahead of their opponents.

Rack Pack’s Captain, Steve Unwin was the inspiration behind the triumph, winning both of his frames.

There is only one place between the two teams from Crayford, however they are a division apart, as CSC are top of Division One whereas Crayford Social Club Rugrats are bottom of the SLKPA Premier Division, after being annihilated by the league leaders this week.

Eltham Terrace Club A whitewashed the first two sets against the Rugrats and went on to win the last set, 4-1 to rack up this season’s biggest victory so far, 14-1 and remain unbeaten for the season.

Rugrats are only three points behind both Falconwood Social and Eltham Terrace Rovers, who both also lost this week.

Falconwood went down 11-4 to Pickwick, who’s return to winning ways took them back to second, ten points behind Eltham Terrace.

There were plenty of long scrappy frames, just how the Pickwick like it but they also enjoyed a bit of the rub of the green to pick up their fourth win of the season.

Paul Doherty won both of his frames for Falconwood but Pickwick were on fire and none more so than Mark Brinkley, Paul Gafa and Martin Storey who all won three frames.

After being humiliated last week by Eltham Terrace Club A, Eltham Terrace Rovers faced another Eltham Terrace team, Nuthouse and Rovers started the better, taking a 3-2 lead.

Nuthouse battled back and won the first four frames of the second set, eventually taking it, 4-1 to go into the final set 6-4 up.

Ryan Francis performed a break and dish in frame eleven to bring Rovers back to within one frame but Louis Wilbourne won his second out of three frames to make it, 7-5.

Nuthouse only needed one of the remaining three frames for victory but they had to wait as Dean Rider beat Zoe Healy for the second time on the night but they didn’t have to wait long as Captain, Craig Jones won the penultimate frame, his third of the night to give his team victory.

In the final frame, Nuthouse rubbed salt in the wound as Dave Sparey played an outrageous double to get out of a snooker and pot the black to give his team an overall 9-6 triumph.

Jones was the only unbeaten player but joining Wilbourne and Rider on two out of three was Shane O’Reilly for Nuthouse and Chris Hobbis for Rovers.

Hotshots are one point behind Pickwick in third, after they beat Bellegrove by 8 frames to 7.

Despite the loss, their fifth in a row this season, Bellegrove are in seventh, so really have it all to do if they want to retain their title.

Falconwood Club are one point behind Hotshots and two ahead of Hustlers A, despite losing 8-7 to them this week.

It was a good game between two attacking sides, which due to the closeness became the opposite at times, however Falconwood’s Paul Elford was able to hold his nerve and bag himself an unbeaten brace.
