The adverse weather conditions meant that both Falconwood Social and Bellegrove, of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Elite League, were struggling for players at the beginning of the night but once the match got under way the flood gates really opened.

Bellegrove were sitting in second with Falconwood in sixth but it was Falconwood who started the stronger, winning the first set 4-1 and they marched on to take the next two sets, 5-0 and 4-1 for a comprehensive and well deserved victory, by 3 sets to 0 and 13 frames to 2.

It was an amazing all round team performance with Leighton Aston and Paul Rowlinson playing superbly for their hat-tricks, Paul Doherty and Elliot Giles finished well for unbeaten braces and Alex Biggs was unlucky not to get his three out of three, after two excellent clearances in his first two frames.

It was a bad night for the Bellegrove dropping qfrom second to fourth as they were overtaken by Hotshots and Eltham Terrace Club A.

Hotshots played bottom of the table Royal Oak Addicks and won the first two sets but Addicks fought back in the final set, winning the first two frames, however Alex Dobbins won his only frame of the night to start a comeback in the set.

Steve Krishnan fortuitously won the fourth frame of the set to tie the set and remain unbeaten, preventing Dan Smith from achieving his unbeaten three out of three in the process.

Hotshots won the final frame for a 3-0 & 10-5 overall victory.

Captain Andre Cox was man of the match, playing some great pool to win both his frames.

Hotshots go into second with Eltham Terrace Club A third after they beat Pickwick, 2-1 & 8-7.

As the score suggests it was a tight affair with Pickwick winning the first set on a final frame decider and Eltham did the same in the second set, before taking the final set by the same 3-2 score.

Pickwick made too many mistakes, which proved costly and no one capitalised more than Steve Pearce who won both of his frames.

It was a wonderful night for Falconwood as their other side Falconwood Club remain top after a 2-1 & 9-6 triumph over Glenmore Arms B.

Glenmore had the better start taking the first set, 3-2 and the first frame of the second set but Oliver Lawrence made a brilliant clearance from a dry break to start the comeback and Falconwood went on to take the set 4-1.

A 3-2 victory in the final set secured three points for the Falconwood with Barry Barham winning a frame in each set.

There’s a real tussle at the top of SLKPA Tier Two West, as Bellegrove Social Club beat Pickwick Academicals by 3 sets to 0 and 10 frames to 5 to regain pole position by just one point.

David Graham won in his first match of the season for Bellegrove with Martin Luff and Steve Knight both winning all three of their frames.

Tony Stevens kept the fight going for Academicals by recording an unbeaten hat-trick.

Bellegrove took over from Eltham Terrace Rovers even though they beat Greyhound Elite.

Bottom of the table Greyhound shocked Rovers in the first set, taking it 4-1 but Rovers recovered and won the next two sets by the same score for an overall 2-1 & 9-6 triumph.

Eltham Terrace Nuthouse still lead the chasing pack after a 3-0 & 9-6 victory over Fox & Hounds to go four points ahead of them.

Nuthouse raced to a 3-0 lead but Fox won the last two frames of the set, making it 3-2 then Nuthouse went on to win the next two sets by the same score.

Shane O’Reilly was the shining star for the victors, winning all three of his frames and he was supported by Zoe Healy, Craig Jones and Dave Sparey who all won two of their three frames.

Fox may have had more success if they utilised Tom Wyatt and Ernest Chin more, as they both won their only frame.

It’s quite close in SLKPA Tier Two East,as only five points separate the top four teams, with Royal Oak heading the division.

They played bottom of the table, Glenmore Arms and there didn’t seem to be that much between the teams after the first two sets, as each team took one by 3 frames to 2, keeping the match all square at one set and five frames apiece.

However the difference showed in the final set with Royal Oak whitewashing it, 5-0 for an overall 2-1 & 10-5 victory.

It was a good all round team performance, with Paul Clements, Steve Heather, Phil Tworek and Steve Clark all unbeaten on two frame wins.

Third played second as North Heath Social Club played hosts to Crayford Social Club Rugrats and the match went to form but only just as the away side sneaked a 2-1 & 8-7 victory.

As a result North Heath drop to fourth with Bellegrove A beating Eltham Terrace Rack Pack 3-0 & 10-5.

Bellegrove won the first set 4-1 and the second set 3-2 then the captains Jon Syta and Steve Unwin met in the final set and Syta reversed the outcome the last time the pair met, for his hat-trick and the set for Bellegrove.

Also unbeaten, alongside Syta was Stephen Hughes, who won both his frames.

Rack Pack remain winless and drop to the bottom of the table, although they are on the same points as Glenmore.

Rising Sun stay top of SLKPA Tier Three despite not playing this week but Rose Inn close the gap to seven points after they beat Foots Cray Social Club, 2-1 in sets & 9-6 in frames.

Crayford Social Club 2 hold onto third place despite losing to fifth placed Plumstead Radical Club, 2-1 & 8-7.

The match between Orpington Sports Club and Bellegrove Flyers also finished 2-1 & 8-7 in favour of the Flyers.

It was a very enjoyable night played in the true spirit of the game with Richard Marsh winning all three frames and he was backed up by Peter Gray and Richie Sheppard, both winning two frames.

After such a great start Orpington now find themselves bottom of the table but after this performance they shouldn’t be there for too long.
