Week four of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance summer season and Bellegrove Social Club have beaten Fox & Hounds to stay top of Tier Two West and uphold their unbeaten record without dropping a set.

Bellegrove started strongly, taking the first four frames to win the first set,4-1 and they went on to take the second set, 3-2 and the final set by the same score as the first to give them a 3-0 & 11-4 overall victory.

The whole team performed well with four unbeaten players, Paul Hutchins and Tony Hodsdon both won a frame each and Sam Bedingham-Pearce, for the second week running and Martin Luff won all three of their frames.

After her battle last week with Kevin Sace, Fox’s Kerry Wyatt had another battle this week with Jason Brunton and just like last week she edged it by two frames to one.

Eltham Terrace Rovers hold on to second place despite losing the derby match against Eltham Terrace Nuthouse.

Unlike Rovers, Nuthouse had been struggling for form of late but they started the better, winning the first set, 3-2, after Zoe Healy beat Darren Porter in the deciding frame.

The second set also went to a deciding frame but Healy wasn’t so fortunate this time, losing to Ryan Francis to tie the match at one set and five frames each.

Nuthouse won the match in the first three frames of the final set and took the set, 4-1 with Healy getting her own back on Francis in the last frame to give her team the 2-1 & 9-6 triumph.

Along with Healy’s fine two out of three display, Shane O’Reilly bagged an unbeaten brace and Craig Jones a hat-trick.

Rovers top guns weren’t firing on all cylinders but Kevin England won both of his frames and Geoff Evans his only frame to remain unbeaten for the season.

This result puts Nuthouse in third, five points behind their opponents.

Pickwick Academicals picked up their first win of the season, 2-1 & 9-6 against fellow strugglers Greyhound Elite.

Academicals Captain, Donna Mullins led from the front by winning the first frame and they went on to take the first set by four frames to one but Greyhound fought back in the second, taking it 3-2 before Academicals won the final set by the same score for the victory.

Mullins was joined by Gary Mason and Paul Thomas in winning two of their three frames but Dean Williams went one better with three frame wins.

Lewis Brind was the player of the night for the Greyhound, winning two of his three frames.

The top two, North Heath Social Club and Royal Oak faced each other in SLKPA Tier Two East with both team’s unbeaten records at stake and it was Royal Oak who finished on top with a 3-0 & 10-5 win to go four points clear at the top.

Crayford Social Club Rugrats put their poor start to the season behind them and ended Eltham Terrace Rack Pack’s run of draws with a, 3-0 & 11-4 triumph to jump into third.

Rugrats took the first set, 4-1 and didn’t look back, taking the second set by the same score and finishing it off with a 3-2 win in the final set.

Shane Burnett and Steve Gibson finished the night with three frame wins and they were backed up by Alan Enever who won both of his frames.

Bottom of the table, Glenmore Arms picked up a vital win against Bellegrove A to reduce the gap between the two teams to one point.

It was an incredibly close match all night long, with each team winning one of the first two sets, 3-2 and the final set saw the teams sharing the first four frames, taking it to a final frame decider.

It couldn’t have been a more thrilling end to the night, with Bellegrove Captain Jon Syta facing AJ Corker with both players looking to improve on their two out of two records so far on the night, so something had to give.

The frame epitomised the match and could have gone either way but eventually Corker sunk the black to cap an outstanding display and give his team the 2-1 & 8-7 victory.

Bellegrove’s Steve Hughes also finished on an unbeaten hat-trick.

We had another Glenmore v Bellgrove match in the SLKPA Elite League, as Glenmore Arms B took on Bellegrove and it was the away team who got retribution with a 3-0 & 10-5 triumph.

Bellegrove had it their own way in the first set, winning it 4-1 but Glenmore did well in the next two sets only losing them 3-2, despite only having four players.

There is a real scrap at the top of the division, as only three points separate the top three, with Bellegrove top and Falconwood Club and Hotshots just behind them on equal points.

Falconwood kept themselves in the running with a superb 3-0 & 11-4 win against Elite League new boys Royal Oak Addicks.

It was a good all round team performance with Alex Lawrence and Declan Kelly both winning all three frames but they were overshadowed by Lawrence’s son Oliver, who scored two out of two, including an amazing clearance in the final set to secure maximum points, all on his debut.

Hotshots joined the party with an emphatic, 3-0 & 11-4 victory over the previously unbeaten Eltham Terrace Club A.

As expected the match started closely with Hotshots narrowly winning the first set, 3-2 but they ramped it up in the next two, taking them both 4-1 to leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Falconwood Social scored their first win of their debut season in the top division against stalwarts Pickwick.

They won the first set, 3-2 but Pickwick took the first three frames of the second set to tie the match in sets however Pickwick fell apart from there on in, not winning another frame, giving Falconwood the, 2-1 & 10-5 victory.

Trevor Biggs and Paul Rowlinson both earned well deserved unbeaten hat-tricks for Falconwood.

In the newly formed SLKPA Tier Three all scores were the same this week, 2-1 & 8-7 although there were differing outcomes.

Rising Sun have got off to an awesome start, winning all three games so far but they had to share the points against Rose Inn this week, as Rising Sun won 2-1 in sets but Rose Inn won 8-7 in frames.

Dean Geary-Parr and Del Reynolds both won three out of three for Rose, with Geary-Par’s including a break and dish.

Rising Sun have opened up a seven point lead over their opponents in second but Rose do have a game in hand.

Bellegrove Flyers scored their second win of the season with a narrow 2-1 & 8-7 victory over Crayford Social Club 2.

They won the first two sets, 3-2 but lost the last by the same score, with Richard Marsh winning both of his frames.

Foots Cray Social Club were close to picking up their first win but they had to share the points against Plumstead Radical Club, as Foots Cray won 8-7 in frames but Radical Club won the match 2-1 in sets.
