Sidcup boxer Danny Carr says he feels in top shape as he bids to record his third straight win at York Hall on Friday night.

The explosive fighter sealed a knockout win over Aleksandrs Birkenbergs at the end of last month, to follow up his debut triumph in the professional ranks back in October.

The former Cleeve Park pupil attracted many admirers for his performance against the Latvian and he hopes to once again demonstrate his ability this week.

He said: “I’m feeling ready and good. I’ve been working hard in the gym with my trainer Al Smith and he’s got me in good shape.

“I feel ready to get in the ring again and show what I can do.”

While Carr’s opponent for the upcoming bout will not be confirmed until this week, the lightweight fighter insists he will be able to weigh up his challenger in the ring and make any necessary adjustments during the clash.

“That’s really not a big deal for me,” the 26-year-old said.

“In a lot of cases I prefer not to know the guy anyway so then I can just concentrate on my side of things and get down to business on the night.

“You can assess your opponent in the first round, make some adjustments on your trainer’s advice and it’s not an issue.”

A former member of Fisher’s ABC in Bermondsey, Carr moved to Bromley’s talent-packed iBox after signing his first professional contract with Frank Warren’s BoxNation in October.

The “Cannon” has secured two knockout wins from his two fights but insists he won’t force the issue in order to achieve another knockout blow.

Carr added: “I would love to extend that record for sure.

“But it’s just about winning for me and I’m not going to go out there desperate for the knockout. I’m going to focus on winning rather than a KO.

“People often tell me that I’m like a TV fighter because I bring excitement. I want to do that while making sure I don’t get caught out.”

While Carr is focused on his upcoming fight, the boxer is also looking forward to competing at the Copper Box on the undercard of Billy Joe Saunders title defence in April.

The multi-sport venue has a capacity of 7,500 and was used during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

“I’m delighted to be on the undercard for such a big fight – it will be a great event and my aim will be to put on a show,” he said.

“I’ll be trying to put on a really good performance so that I get invited back onto those kind of shows.

“The added pressure and publicity won’t affect me - if anything, it will drive me on. This will be a chance to impress on a big stage and I'm determined to take it.”
