The penultimate week of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Premier Division season and Pickwick have kept up their unbeaten 2016 by stunning second in the table and 37 points ahead of them, O’Connors.

O’Connors went into the final set 6-4 up but Pickwick dug deep and continued their form this calendar year to take all five frames in the last set to win the match by 9 frames to 6.

Paul Dawson made it two break and dishes in a row, after finishing last week’s match with one and starting this week with one in frame two, on his way to an unbeaten hat-trick.

Adam Coppen also performed a break and dish in frame three but that was O’Connors only shining light.

Dawson was backed up by Allan Formosa and Dean James who both won two of their three frames.

This is championship winning form from Pickwick but their poor 2015 means they have only risen into sixth, whereas O’Connors have dropped to third after Falconwood Club’s victory this week.

It wasn’t their best performance of the season but they managed to scrape an 8-7 win against Eltham Terrace Rovers.

Peter Wells played his first game of the season for the victors but Stacy Redman was the star performer, winning three out of three frames, despite not bringing his own cue.

Rovers hit the 100 point mark this week and despite the loss they are now three points ahead of their relegation rivals, Glenmore Arms A, after they lost to Eltham Terrace Club A.

It was a good victory but Eltham didn’t have it all their own way, as after winning the first set, 4-1 Glenmore battled back and took the next set, 3-2 but it didn’t last as Eltham won the last by the same score as the first for a 10-5 triumph.

The second set was an eventful one as Dean Geary-Parr cleared up after a dry break for Glenmore and Eltham’s Dan Heinink did the same on his way to an unbeaten hat-trick.

Six points below Glenmore, at the bottom are North Heath Social Club, after suffering a 9-6 defeat at the hands of Hotshots.

It was closer than the score suggests, as Hotshots won each set by the odd frame, 3-2, with Andre Cox and Steve Krishnan taking a frame in each set.

The relegation fight is now between North Heath, Glenmore and Rovers, with only nine points separating the three teams and Rovers are in the play-off driving seat.

The championship race has been close all season but Bellegrove are now odds on favourites for the title after going eleven points ahead of Falconwood and O’Connors in second and third.

Crayford Social Club Rugrats had it all to do against the league leaders, after turning up with only four players and they did well to get three frames in the 12-3 defeat.

Bellegrove’s Tony Halpin, Craig Mallinder and Kevin Smith all scored three out of three for the second week running.
