Sidcup boxer Danny Carr says winning his first professional fight with a knock-out blow in the second round was an unbelievable experience.

The lightweight boxer, 25, defeated Coventry fighter Aaron Flinn with a devastating punch at the Harrow Leisure Centre on October 30.

Carr signed his first professional contract with Frank Warren’s BoxNation only weeks before the convincing win and now hopes to make a name for himself in the sport.

“It was an absolutely wicked experience,” the former Cleeve Park pupil said.

“We took quite a few up there from Sidcup, I think there were over 100 in the audience supporting me so that was really great.

“Everyone was shouting my name, the noise was just unbelievable – it was unreal and a great feeling.”

Danny ‘The Cannon’ Carr dominated the opening two rounds and, shortly after testing his opponent’s chin with a strong jab, knocked out Flinn in sensational style.

“It was quite nerve-wracking walking into the ring but my trainer and team told me to keep calm and use the crowd and adrenaline in the ring.

“I was very confident and felt ready to fight.

“I caught him with a straight right hand just before I knocked him out, and I saw his legs go a little, so I just kept on top of him and then caught him again with the knock-out blow.

“It’s great feeling when that happens.”

After enjoying a perfect start to his professional career Carr, who trains around nine times every week at iBox Gym in Bromley, is targeting another strong performance in his next bout.

He added: “I’m confident in my ability and I just can’t wait to fight again – it probably won’t be until January but I’m already looking for to it.

“At the moment I’m training five nights a week and then fitting in four sessions during the day. It’s hectic and obviously a lot of hard work but I’m absolutely loving it.

“Now it’s just about ticking over in the gym, continue working hard and developing my technique.

“I would like to thank Al Smith from iBox, and everyone at the gym for welcoming me and helping my career, as well as amateur club Fisher ABC."
