Week three of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance winter season went down as a week of hard fought, tight matches, as six of the eleven matches were won by just one frame and only three teams, one from each division have unbeaten records.

Unbeaten at the top of Division Two were Bellegrove A, who were one of the 8-7 winners this week to keep their 100% record.

Third placed Foots Cray Social Club were the opponents and both teams played their hearts out in a close match that could have gone either way.

Bellegrove won the first two sets 3-2 and took the first frame of the last set for a 7-4 lead but Foots Cray dug deep and took the game to a final frame decider.

Jon Syta showed his class in the decider, not giving his opponent a chance by performing a break and dish to give Bellegrove the win.

A special mention goes to Foots Cray's George Haydon, who has been knocking on the door for a couple of weeks and finally got his first SLKPA victory this week.

Even though they remain unbeaten, Bellegrove A lost their top spot to their sister side, Bellegrove Social Club, who earned a huge victory this week.

Greyhound Elite were on the wrong end of an 11-4 thrashing, although James Fickling did his best to thwart that by winning both his frames.

Both Steve Pearce and Jason Brunton went one better for Bellegrove, with unbeaten hat-tricks.

The other game in the division was another 8-7, with Glenmore Arms 2 picking up their first win of the season against third placed Crayford Social Club 2 to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

The unbeaten team in SLKPA Division One is Falconwood Social, who have opened up a twelve point lead at the top, after only three weeks, with a 12-3 triumph over Eltham Terrace Rack Pack.

The division's other team from Eltham Terrace, the Nuthouse hauled themselves off the bottom of the table, with an 8-7 win over second placed Royal Oak Addicks.

Shane O'Reilly started the ball rolling for Nuthouse, with a break and dish in the opening frame and he went on to take two of his three frames.

But it was an all round team performance, with Zoe Healy and Julie Lancaster both winning one of their two frames and Captain Craig Jones won his battle with the unlucky Ben O'Brien, with three frame wins over him.

It was another tight game between Fox & Hounds and Pickwick Academicals, with Academicals taking a 2-0 lead but Fox won the next three frames for the set.

Fox also won the second set, 3-2 but Gary Mason secured his first win of the season and Dean Williams tied the match at six all.

The next two frames were shared to send the match in to a final frame shoot out between Academicals Captain, Donna Levingbird and Clive Forrest from the Fox and it wasn't meant to be for Donna as Forrest won his third frame of the night to give his team the 8-7 victory.

Alan Dolan joined Forrest in winning all three of his frames with the Wyatt's, Kerry and Tom picking up their other frames.

Young gun Billy Levingbird is proving to be the backbone for Academicals, by winning two of his three frames and Chris Bracey is becoming just as reliable, winning at least a frame every week so far.

Hotshots have made the Premier Division top spot their own with an 8-7 win over Pickwick to keep up their unbeaten run and send Pickwick to the bottom of the table.

It was another match that went the distance, with a cue foul gifting Hotshots the match.

Pickwick's Paul Gafa made a quality total clearance in the third frame but Hotshots unbeaten players, Richard Chapman and Danny Kelliher were the difference, winning two and three frames respectively.

The biggest movers in the division were Bellegrove, who beat the previous leaders, Eltham Terrace Club A by 10 frames to 5 to jump from fifth to second and one place above their opponents.

Craig Mallinder, on an unbeaten hat-trick and Paul Williams, with two out of two were the inspiration behind Eltham's first defeat of the season.

Also losing their first match of the season were Falconwood Club, who went down 8-7 to O'Connors.

It was a great effort from Falconwood, who were 7-3 in arrears but pulled it back to 7-6 before O'Connors won the penultimate frame.

Dayle Stork made a marvellous clearance in the last frame for his two out of two but Barry Barham went one better with three out of three.

As a result Falconwood have dropped to fifth with O'Connors leapfrogging them in to fourth.

With two teams in this division losing their unbeaten record, two other teams have picked up their first victories.

The first of these were Crayford Social Club Rugrats, who won the first and third sets against North Heath Social Club by the odd frame but the damage was done in the second set, taking it by four frames to one to win the match, 10-5.

Despite the score it was a close match, and North Heath were unlucky at times but it was an all round team performance from Rugrats, with every player chipping in.

Rugrats were without their Captain but Louis Wilbourne deputised well , leading from the front by winning all three of his frames and he was joined by Shane Burnett.

Although the victory was well deserved North Heath felt they could have done better and let themselves down.

Rugrats have moved off the bottom into eighth, on the same points as Glenmore Arms A, who also recorded their first win this week.

They whitewashed the first set against Eltham Terrace Rovers but Rovers pulled it back in the second with a 3-2 score to make it 7-3 overall.

Rovers weren't finished there though as they won the first four frames of the last set to tie the match at seven all.

rovers Captain, Darren Porter was looking to complete the comeback but it was Dean Geary-Parr who after winning the first frame completed the match by taking the last frame and give the Glenmore the 8-7 victory.
