Gravesend’s Star Kickboxing enjoyed another successful evening at the Hastings Centre last week, with the club recording five victories from five fights.

The first fight of the night was contested between Jermaine Robinson and Hastings’ Dan Wright.

Robinson, who had been training hard on his technique prior to the bout, recorded a fine win over his opponent.

110kg giant Simon McGrath met Wayne Hodges with a powerful back-leg kick – McGrath was able to drop Hodges twice before the hosts’ threw in the towel, giving McGrath a commanding win in the first round.

Star Kickboxing’s Edward Smith, facing an old friend in Nathan Smith, demonstrated his experience and skill to record a convincing win, with the decision clearly in his favour despite a strong response from his opponent.

Hayley Ward successfully defended her Five Nations Title in the fourth contest against Ireland’s Gayle Snoddy.

Ward used lighting quick footwork and sharp combinations to defeat the Irish challenger.

Tina Harvey, the current IKF World Champion, took to the ring for the final encounter to challenge for the vacant ICO Five Nations title against Cara McLaughlin.

Harvey started brightly and was able to record a devastating victory with an onslaught of combinations and kicks proving too much to handle for her Irish opponent.
