Dartford racing driver Tyler Lidsey secured two more podium finishes during the penultimate event of the Michelin Clio Cup Road Series at Oulton Park on Saturday to climb into second place in the championship standings.

Enjoying a superb debut season in racing this year, Tyler qualified fourth on the grid for both races.

After claiming third position in round ten, he went one better in round 11 later in the day with a very hard-earned second place.

Under immense pressure from Jake Honour throughout the second contest, 20Ten Racing driver Tyler didn’t put a wheel wrong as he soaked up the attention and held on to his runner-up placing with a great performance.

“At the start of race two I was more focused on Luke Pinder in the lead, then Jake Honour started to close in", explained the Dartford racer.

“One minute I saw him in my mirrors, the next thing we were side-by-side into the chicane and then the Race Series cars came through to lap us and I was able to keep second.

“I have to keep reminding myself it is my first season.

“We’re finishing races and getting on alright with it so I’m really happy.”

Tyler’s older brother Brett, who competes in the headline Michelin Clio Cup Race Series with 20Ten, finished fifth in the first race but missed out on converting a front-row start for race two into a podium bid following an unfortunate spin on lap six at Cascades.

He eventually finished in eighth place but the points scored put him third in the standings.

Next stop for the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series and Road Series will be the season finale next month at Silverstone International Circuit in Northamptonshire.
