RUGBY LEAGUE: Tickets are now on general sale for the rugby league clash between Wigan Warriors and Catalans Dragons at The Den, with the Warriors promising to deliver an unmissable event.

Wigan will become the first club to bring a Super League game to the capital when they welcome Catalans to the home of Millwall FC on Saturday 5th September at 3pm.

The Warriors are rugby league’s most successful side having been crowned champions 20 times and lifted the Challenge Cup on 19 occasions.

“We’re very much looking forward to showcasing our club to the people of London,” said Kris Radlinski, Warriors’ rugby general manager.

“Our fans always travel in significant numbers and we’re confident that with their support and backing from the locals, there will be a fantastic atmosphere at The Den.

“This match is must-win for us but Catalans are fast and physical so this has all the hallmarks of a fantastic match.

“There will be plenty of big hits and brilliant tries on show which will prove a fantastic spectacle for everyone to enjoy.”

Tickets for the groundbreaking event are in demand with 2,000 having already been snapped up by Warriors season ticket holders.

GOLF: Bexleyheath golfer Alfie Plant’s summer success has been rewarded with a call up to represent England at the home internationals in Portrush.

The contest began today on the north Antrim coast and Plant knows if he can perform to his best there is still an outside chance he can force his way into Walker Cup contention.

Recently Plant reached the finals of the English Amatuer Championships in Yorkshire at Allwoodley Golf Club.

In total 288 of the best players in England entered and Plant shot 66 (-6 stroke play) to qualify for the match play stages.
