Dartford racing brothers Brett and Tyler Lidsey added more silverware to their respective trophy cabinets after a strong outing at Brands Hatch late last month during the latest Michelin Clio Cup Series event.

In the headline Race Series for slick tyre-shod 2.0-litre racing Renault Clios, Brett secured second place in round eight on Saturday afternoon (July 25) to match his previous season-best.

Although unable to add more rostrum success in the rain-hit ninth round on Sunday after retiring with damage to his 20Ten Racing car on lap nine, Brett still managed to end up inside the series top three tied on points with Andy Jordan.

“Second in race one was great,” said Brett.

“I had the sponsors at Brands this weekend so to get P2 at my home circuit is special.

“When Luke Herbert and Paul Streather had a little battle, I managed to pick my way through to take second at Paddock. We’re getting closer to first.”

Younger brother Tyler finished fifth in the accompanying Road Series in round eight but delivered a superb performance in round nine, his first ever wet race at the wheel of his race-converted Clio Renaultsport 197 roadcar.

In what was undoubtedly the best Road Series encounter since the category’s inauguration in 2013, 20Ten’s Tyler battled very closely with Jade Developments team-mates Jake Honour and Luke Pinder.

Running in third place going into the penultimate lap, Tyler was able to profit from a pass by Honour on Pinder to also slice his way past the championship leader.

Holding second to the finish, he was just 0.5 seconds shy of the win at the chequered flag.

The results also netted Tyler the Sport Class victory in each contest as well.

He said: “My first race in the wet was always going to be interesting, but to be fair I really enjoyed it.

“Being local I wanted to do well.

“I struggled in qualifying on Saturday and the first race, but managed to pull it all together for this one.

“Everything was really close, it was a brilliant result.”

Rounds 10 and 11 of the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series and Road Series, the penultimate event of the 2015 season, take place on August 15 at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
