ATHLETICS: Dartford sprinter Adam Gemili timed his first ever 100m in under ten seconds on Sunday at the Bedford International Games.

The Blackheath & Bromley Harriers star crossed the line in 9.97s, although he was denied a place in the record books because of the wind producing a 3.7m per second advantage.

Gemili is now the only Brit to record a time of under ten seconds in the 100m and under 20 seconds in the 200m.

He tweeted: “Great day at Bedford running my first sub 10 time for the 100m just slightly over the legal wind limit. Thanks to everyone for the support!”

RUNNING: The popular annual Orpington Road Runners-organised 10k race is set to take place on 14 June at 9.30am.

Last year’s event was the first ever since its inception in 1998 to start, end and take place entirely in and around High Elms Country Park in Farnborough, resulting in Runners World readers voting the Orpington High Elms 10k as the eighth best race in the country at that distance in 2014.

Entrants can expect chip-timing, medals for all finishers, prizes, plenty of parking, and good on-site facilities including an onsite café and trained sports masseur.

The 10k race will be run under UK Athletic rules taking runners on a challenging, single-lap route along the nature trails and countryside of the beautiful Country Park

All proceeds will be donated to local charity St. Christopher’s Bromley, this year’s chosen charity.

The event will be organised by ORR’s experienced organisation team who will provide excellent and friendly marshalling.
