Lewisham super-bantamweight Junior Saeed has a busy couple of weeks coming up.
Saeed heads to Derry on Saturday for a four-round bout against an as yet unknown opponent.
If all goes well across the Irish Sea, he will quickly be in action again on May 16 at the Camden Centre.
But the man himself acknowledges that might not happen should he fail to deliver the goods in Northern Ireland’s second city this weekend.
Saeed said: “I’m only boxing four-rounders and if I lose at this level, I shouldn't be boxing anyway.
“I know that when I go up the levels I will have to study opponents and work out game plans, but for now I should be OK.”
Saeed is heading to Ireland with his manager and trainer, Mickey Helliet and Ryan Barrett respectively.
The Lewisham ace is sure they will help him fulfil the potential he showed during his 75-bout amateur career.
Helliet has kept Saeed busy since he returned to the ring last year after a break and Barrett has a wealth of hard-earned wisdom to pass on.
Barrett won English honours and fought for the British title during his own career and Saeed is honoured to be able to call on his vast experience.
“I have a good team behind me,” he explained.
“Ryan knows what it takes because he’s been there himself.
“He knows what is going through my head. He’s the right man to have in the corner.”
