Bexleyheath lightweight boxer Jack Dishart is back - and he’s hitting harder than ever.

Dishart has been working with a strength and conditioning coach in the countdown to his next fight at the Camden Centre opposite King’s Cross station on May 16.

The 22-year-old is looking to extend his unbeaten record to seven fights, and chalk up the first stoppage of his professional career.

For Dishart, the fight will be his first of the year after he picked up a torn tendon in his knee during training.

That injury setback has kept him out of the ring since last November but the young boxer feels like a different fighter now.

He said: “I feel a lot stronger now and my boxing has improved as well. I haven’t stopped anyone yet, but I know I have the power to do it and now I’ve changed my style I'm sure the knock outs will come.

“I’ve been chasing my opponents around the ring and instead of doing that I’m looking to hold the centre of the ring, get them coming to me and land the power shots.

“I’ve had some good sparring and I think everyone who has been in there with me has noticed I’m punching harder.”

Dishart will have his biggest fan back at ringside for his next fight.

He said: “My girlfriend Georgina has missed my last few fights, but she will be there next month.

“It will be great to know she’s there cheering for me.”

Dishart also hopes to give his supporters plenty to cheer in 2015.

“I’ve spoken to manager Mickey Helliet and he wants to keep me busy this year so that by the start of next year l will be ready to fight for a title.”
